Summer Updates!
Happy Summer! We hope you are enjoying this time of sun and fun with your family and friends. It’s a time to step back and relax BUT we are in full swing getting ready for coffee season. Hehe!
What does summer look like in Costa Rica? Well, rainy! Oftentimes it is a rush against the weather to finish outdoor activities and maintenance before we have to take cover! The lightning is absolutely incredible and at 3,300 feet, in the mountains, it is pretty spectacular! Rain often comes down from the top of the mountain like a raging river using our little paved streets as their right of way. So, most people stay home when the rain starts, we too are no exception.
Our families who attend preschool events and activities are also very affected by the rains. Almost all of our moms, dads, and children walk to and from our school, no parking needed! However, in school, they are safe and sound, tummies full and well cared for by our beautiful staff.
These last years have been amazing and full of excitement. From moving to Costa Rica, founding a preschool, buying land and building an incredible brand new facility designed for children ages 0-7. NOW we are ready to work on SUSTAINABILITY.
How can we become a sustainable preschool?
GOOD QUESTION.
In our case, we have discovered throughout the last few years that the only way to become sustainable is through monthly donations by families who have joined our support team. Working with migrants excludes us from receiving any government funding. We are 100% supported by about 30 families who have been faithfully giving for the last 12 years! It is absolutely incredible to be a part of saving lives through your monthly support.
John and I usually ask one time each year for additional support whether it be a food emergency, school maintenance, staffing in services, building projects etc. This year we are asking something unique and different. We need to build our support base, we need more friends and families JUST LIKE YOU who are willing to make a difference by giving $20 monthly. Do you know of a friend or family who would join our support team? John and I are asking our beloved pillar families if you would be willing to FIND one other family to join us for $20 a month?
